Everest Base Camp

Everest Base Camp is located in the Khumbu region of Nepal. The hike typically begins at a tiny mountain airport named Lukla. Hiking from Lukla, the trekkers pass out of villages, through forests and rivers and up higher into the mountains until they reach base camp.

There are in fact two base camps: one on the Nepal side, and one on the Tibet side. The more-traveled path is the one that leads to the South Base Camp in Nepal, which is where most trekkers venture.
